FAQs

What happens at your consultation?

During your consultation, Dr Phil likes to get to know you on a personal level to get you feeling as comfortable as possible. We understand that going ahead with a smile makeover can be a big decision so we like to ensure that you are fully informed and understanding of the benefits of pursuing a new smile with Dr Phil Aesthetics.

During the appointment you will receive a full dental health check as well as a cosmetic assessment to ensure we’re planning a healthy, long lasting smile makeover. We take x-rays and photos in order to present all the information to you in a clear, concise manner. Once we’ve done this, we will show you the treatment plan as well as going through the costs, including finance options.

If you’re happy to go ahead we can take the records required to get you started on the day!

Where can I find out the costs of treatments?

Our price list page includes the costs of all treatments. Each treatment plan is bespoke to you, therefore together we choose a treatment plan that works within your budget and goals.

What options do you offer for payment?

We don’t want cost to be a barrier for you achieving your dream smile. Therefore, we offer different ways of financing your treatment so that it’s as easy as possible for you. If you prefer you can pay for your treatments as you go. For example, if you’re having clear aligner treatment, this may be over a long period of time and you can split your payment up into different visits. Alternatively you can apply for finance up to 18 months interest free or 5 years interest bearing.

What treatments do you offer?

We offer a large range of treatments including general and cosmetic dentistry. General dentistry treatments include check ups, fillings, crowns and bridges. Root canals and extractions may also be included in your plan which can be carried out by Dr Phil or his colleagues who are specialists in these areas, before being referred back to Dr Phil for your cosmetic work. Dr Phil carries out all cosmetic treatments including teeth whitening, clear aligners, composite bonding, composite veneers and porcelain veneers. Dr Phil can also restore implants as part of your smile makeover to fill any gaps! He works with implant surgeons on site to plan this to perfection!

I am afraid of needles, do I need to have anaesthetic to have cosmetic treatments?

Treatments like teeth whitening, clear aligners and composite bonding do not require anaesthesia unless you require gum contouring*. With porcelain veneers you do require anaesthesia, however if you are very nervous we can offer you sedation which helps in these situations

How long do cosmetic treatments last?

Clear aligner treatment which is used to straighten your teeth lasts forever provided you wear your retainers for life. Often we place bonded wires on the back of your teeth to aid retention and prevent relapse. Composite bonding usually lasts between 5-7 years, however with Dr Phil’s advanced bonding techniques they have been proven to last 10 years + with great oral hygiene and maintenance. Porcelain veneers last between 10-15 years as they are stronger and more stain resistant than composite bonding.

I want to straighten my teeth, but I don’t know if it’s possible with clear aligners?

Clear aligners are now so advanced it can resolve most crowded teeth situations. Dr Phil will always suggest treatments which are most appropriate for you, therefore it is worth attending for a consultation to see what would be the best option as there is always a solution!

Does composite bonding chip?

Composite bonding can chip, however we plan your case in order to reduce the chances of this happening as much as possible. Straightening your teeth prior to composite bonding helps to form a favourable bite to prevent heavy biting on your composite which can lead to chipping. Dr Phil’s advanced bonding techniques favours a reduced chance of chipping as the composite is bonded to the tooth in the strongest way possible. We also give you clear and comprehensive instructions to help prevent chipping such as not biting your nails or anything other than food using your composite bonding. Your treatment is guaranteed for 6 months, therefore on the odd occasion where it does chip we will repair it free of charge for you. Thereafter, you may have to pay to have it fixed depending on the size of the chip.

What happens after treatment has been completed?

Maintenance of your result is extremely important to Dr Phil. We like to ensure your results last for as long as possible. Your maintenance plan usually involves 2 check ups and 2 cleans per year, however we can adapt this to your schedule and design a plan that works for you.
